The great snow of '09!

Who would have guess that we would get snow on the first day of March? Not me! Trees are starting to bloom, daffodils have been popping up for several weeks! But yesterday we got one of the best snows we have had in years! It rained all day Saturday and most of the day yesterday. But they kept saying it was going to snow. We went to Union for a while to hang out. Emma and Anna were so excited about the potential snow. So, when we finally saw the first flakes, they had to run outside and celebrate!

We left Union pretty quickly because the snow started coming down fast and hard, and we wanted to get back to Roebuck before it got bad. When we got home and met up with Shane, Morgan and Ryan, we had a couple of inches on the ground already. The girls were so excited, so we let them go out in the backyard and play for a while! When we were getting them ready for bed, we experienced something we had never seen before...thunder and lightning accompanying the snow! According to the weatherman, it was called thundersnow! Very strange!

Ready for bed in our snowman jammies!

According to our measurements this morning, we got around 5 inches of the white stuff! We got dressed and headed out to play pretty early!

Snowman time! I seriously think we had the biggest snowman in the neigborhood! The girls really didn't contribute too much! They brought Shane a couple of buckets of snow, though! And to be completely honest, I really didn't help much either! I did help decorate a little! Shane did an awesome job!

After we had played at home for a while, we headed over to Papa and Nana's house for some sledding! They have a beautiful view of the mountains from the back of their house!

I just thought this was a really pretty shot of the pasture in front of Grandma Bulman's old house.
Sledding time! Shane hooked up the sled behind the 4-wheeler! Emma had a BLAST! She absolutely loved sledding! Morgan liked it for a short time. She ended up turning over in a mud puddle. After that, she was done! She isn't really our outdoorsy child anyway!

Jason, Julie and Ian joined us for a little while! Ian liked the sledding at first, but overall, he wasn't very impressed!

After the sledding fun at Papa and Nana's house, we headed over to my parent's house for dinner. We had pintos, stewed potatoes, steamed cabbage and cornbread. It was SO good! After we ate, the kids wanted to go outside again. So we went out for a few minutes.

Ryan spent most of the day chilling indoors with whoever was inside at the moment!

Wow...I'm impressed you got these up so fast! I am equally impressed with Shane's snowman. Geez...y'all were not kidding when you said you built a 6 foot snowman! Tell Shane I give him props!

How fun!! Looks like you all had a blast! Just seeing your pictures of the four-wheeler makes me want one. {Only for snow days, of course!!}

Can't believe how big Ryan is getting! Man, does time fly!
