Emma goes to the Fire Department

Emma's kindergarten class visited the Roebuck Fire Department on Tuesday. I went as a chaperone. The kids were so cute! They started out by watching a video called "Elmo goes to the Fire Station". It was cute! Then the fire chief, Brian Harvey, talked to the kids about fire safety. After that they got to go out to the truck bay and see the fire trucks. They even got to climb in one!

In this first picture, the guys are waving a blanket to imitate smoke. They were teaching the kids to stay low and crawl under smoke.

That night, we got positive proof that Emma listens really well. She started crying right before bed time. She told us that she was scared that the house would catch on fire and she wouldn't hear the smoke detector. Mr. Harvey had told us that studies have proven that most kids sleep right though a smoke detector. He also told us that smoke usually kills most people. So, poor little Emma was terrified! We assured her that WE would hear it and that we will always take care of her!
